Avenue de Madrid in Laeken

10/03/2009 - On the initiative of Brussels Minister Pascal Smet (sp.a), major works have been started at Avenue de Madrid in Laeken. The total cost of the works, which will be completed in late July, is 2 million euros.

New signage system for emergency exits in tunnels in Brussels

06/03/2009 - A new signage system for emergency exits has been installed in the Cinquantenaire and Loi tunnels. The signs guide tunnel users to the nearest emergency exit and will remain clearly visible even in thick smoke. Pascal Smet: “The new signage is part of the modernisation scheme for the tunnels in Brussels which I established at the start of the legislature. It greatly improves safety in the tunnels and complements the recently completed modernisation of the fire detection systems.”
